game policies:
Some things to remember.

The Arcana staff operate on the following basic assumptions about the majority of the player base, despite the well-known axiom about assuming. These are basic rules of courtesy that every MOO player is expected to abide by, out of common sense and a desire for mutual respect. When these guidelines are not followed, every effort will be made to address the problem with the individual player rather than taking away priveleges as a whole. MOO priveleges will only be removed for the player base in extreme cases of widespread abuse. We prefer to trust our players, believing that this trust and respect will be merited.

That said, we have placed certain policies in effect. There are no programmed controls on language, actions, or OOC behaviour. However, we do expect that all players have read 'game content' and agreed to the policies detailed therein. By playing on Arcana, you enter into an agreement, a contract if you will, with the administrators of this MOO, and that includes an agreement to abide by the policies those administrators set. If you have questions about a rule, policy, or decision, please contact a GM or a Wiz, and they will take your concern under advisement.

The decisions of the Wizzes are final. The decisions of the GM's may only be appealed to the Wizzes, and only in cases where you feel you have been clearly wronged. It is our -fervent- wish that this situation will not arise.

We expect that our players

* Practise respect for other players. Keep in mind that new players may need patience and understanding as they adjust to the Arcana system.
* Follow the policies laid out by the GM's.
* Keep an open mind and a willingness to adapt to other players' desires in roleplay. One of the most enjoyable things about MOOing is that you don't know how a situation will turn out. Let it flow. You might enjoy it more.
* Discriminate between IC (in-character) and OOC (out-of-character) emotions, attitudes, and knowledge. If someone wrongs you OOC'ly, killing them is -not- an appropriate response. Take it to a GM instead.
* Use common sense. If you find a bug, a problem, or something a GM would like to know about, let them know. Send it to *bugs, or page it to them. Don't just let it sit around and continue to collect errors. Nobody wins or loses in role-playing. In the end, it's beneficial to -everyone- to have smoothly running code with no holes in it. :

Keeping Arcana running smoothly is not a job for the GM's and Wizzesour spare time trying to make everything work out. The help and partnership of the players is invaluable to us, and without it we could not function. As a player, we need your input and your assistance to make Arcana the best it can be. .
