Statistics:
The old system of damage and insanity has been replaced by
the following set of character statistics:
- Max HP:
The current maximum number of Hit Points your character can have, basically
representing just how much of a beating he or she can stand up to. If your
character is injured, this number will be greater than his or her current
Hit Points, in case there was confusion.
- HP: Your
character's current Hit Points.
- Subdual:
The amount of Subdual damage your character has taken. If this number goes
above your character's current Hit Points, he or she will fall unconscious.
Subdual damage is dealt by unarmed attacks and certain weapons.

- Max Essence:
The maximum pool of spiritual energy available to your character. Mages and
Clerics are the most notorious users of Essence, however other classes may
have Meta abilities that draw on the character's inner reserves.
- Essence:
The amount of Essence currently available to be spent.
Your Hit Points are determined by your Constitution and your class, while
your Essence is calculated using your Wisdom for Clerics, Paladins, and Warriors
and your Intelligence for Commoners, Nobles, Mages, and Thieves.
